Meet Our Coaches!

At Thunder Elite, our coaching staff is the heart of everything we do. Each coach brings a unique blend of experience, passion, and dedication to our athletes. From former Thunder athletes who’ve grown into incredible mentors to fresh energy and long-time leaders, our team is committed to creating a positive, empowering environment where every child can thrive.

Together, Candy, Sabrina, Jaylyn, and Jessica, along with our entire team, work to make Thunder Elite what it is. The four of us may be leading the charge, but the true magic comes from every coach who contributes to making this gym such a special place for our athletes to grow, learn, and shine.

Gym Owner

Thunder Mama aka Candy

IMG_1127.jpeg

Known lovingly as “Thunder Mama,” Candy is the heart and soul of Thunder Elite. Since 2005, she’s been the steady presence behind the scenes—loving, supporting, and looking

out for every athlete who walks through our doors. Though she’s never cheered a day in her life (not even a cartwheel!), her passion runs deep. What started as cheering on her daughter quickly turned into a lifelong commitment to the gym and the incredible kids inside it. Candy isn’t a coach, but she’s the one making sure everyone feels safe, seen, and supported. Whether she’s offering a hug, sharing a laugh, or reminding you that you can do anything, Thunder wouldn’t be Thunder without her.

Her favorite Starbucks order is an iced unsweetened green tea!

She’s cheered on nearly every team we’ve had and brings that same full-circle passion into her coaching. Whether she’s running the pro shop or coaching stunts (her favorite!), Sabrina is all in—100% committed to helping athletes build confidence and crush their goals. With her fun-loving energy, fierce loyalty, and high standards, she’s not just a coach—she’s a Thunder lifer.

And yes, her favorite Starbucks order is passion tea, sub the water for strawberry açai.

Known for her aggressive yet goofy coaching style, she thrives on pushing her athletes to achieve their best while maintaining a fun, positive atmosphere. Her favorite skill to teach is dance, and she takes pride in watching her athletes light up when they master new routines. Jaylyn’s coaching philosophy is all about accountability. A favorite Thunder memory for Coach Jaylyn is seeing Freeze make it to Day 2 of the Summit, a moment that still fills her with pride. When she's not coaching, Jaylyn enjoys teaching at her own Preschool, Tumble and Learn, where she is the World's BEST Teacher!! Above all, her favorite part of coaching is seeing her athletes succeed and grow in their cheerleading journey. And of course she loves Watermelon Lime Rebels from Dutch!

Jessica Skaw has been part of the Thunder Elite family since 2008, after starting her cheer journey back in 2002. A former athlete on Team Ice, she now channels her love for the sport

into powerful, assertive coaching—pushing athletes to reach their full potential with confidence and clarity. She loves coaching all skills, but fulls and arabians bring an extra spark to her practices. Jessica thrives on watching athletes build belief in themselves, break through limits, and transform into strong, capable people both on and off the mat. Her favorite Thunder memory? Winning NCA in 2010 with her sister—a moment that still fuels her passion. Outside the gym, she’s a proud mom to Jett, LEGO builder, crafter, and dog mom to Georgie. Just don’t show up to practice in pajamas—Jessica believes in showing up like a pro. She always loves a good iced Americano with cream from Starbucks!

Bentlee has been part of the Thunder Elite family since 2012, starting her journey as a young athlete on the Bolts. One of her favorite memories is from the Thunder Christmas

party, where the joy and energy of the program truly stood out. As an athlete, she was proudest of hitting her layout, and that same drive now carries into her coaching. Bentlee loves the connections she builds with athletes and thrives on helping them grow both on and off the mat. Stunting is her favorite skill to teach because she loves the way it all comes together in the end. Outside the gym, you can usually find her golfing, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time with friends. Her go-to drink is an Electric Berry Rebel made extra thick, and she admits she’s not a fan of facials.

Billie Jean has been part of Thunder Elite since 2015 and is a lifelong member of the program, growing up on teams like Rays, Supercells, and Reign. She brings years of experience, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude into everything she does as a coach. Billie loves coaching stunts

and watching athletes work together to create skills they’re proud of. Her favorite part of coaching is helping athletes believe in themselves, especially when they push through challenges or finally hit a skill they’ve been working hard on. Billie’s coaching style is encouraging, upbeat, and rooted in problem-solving. She’s known for reminding her athletes that “you are capable,” and she works hard to make practices fun, productive, and confidence-building. Jocelinn

IMG_1137.jpg

Jocelinn began her cheer journey in 2021 and joined the Thunder Elite coaching staff in 2025. Even though she didn’t grow up cheering at Thunder, she instantly fell in love with the program and the athletes she works with. Her favorite skill to teach is a back walkover because she loves

watching athletes hit one of their first real milestone skills and seeing that moment spark excitement for everything that comes next. Jocelinn’s coaching style is open, encouraging, and focused on helping athletes feel confident making mistakes and learning from them. She often reminds her athletes to “practice how you perform” and loves watching them light up when they master a new skill. Her coaching superpower is the way she uplifts and motivates athletes to try their best, even when something feels challenging. Her favorite Thunder theme is Pink Out Practice, and as an athlete, one of her proudest memories is hitting her first big pyramid stunt sequence. Outside the gym, Jocelinn cheers on the David Douglas varsity team, works at Thunder, and loves relaxing with a good movie. Athletes might be surprised to learn she can squat 180 pounds. Her go-to Dutch order is a blended Tiger’s Blood, and her cheer ick is landing jumps with feet apart. Jocelinn loves being part of the Thunder Elite coaching family and is excited to help her athletes grow with confidence, positivity, and strong fundamentals.
